Ann Cason's book, Circles of Care, is a guide to the terrain of aging. It is filled with insight, wit,practicality, and wisdom.From the assessing of an elder's needs, through the nuts and bolts of daily care, to end-of-life issues, Cason draws on her years of experience in the field to provide helpful guidelines for caregivers.

Sprinkled throughout the book are "care studies," personal stories that illustratethe complexities and richness of aging and of caring for the elderly.

Cason covers many of the more common difficult behaviors such as confusion, memory loss, moodiness, and combativeness. She provides ways of working with such issues skilfully and with sensitivity.

There is not even a whiff of condecension in her discussion of the elderly. In fact, there is the greatest respect for what the elderly have to each us. I highly recommend this book.

The authors seem to out do themselves with each new edition that comes to press.Most text books are out of date before they go to press and certainly before the instructors can make their lesson plans for the students.By the instructor using the work book and the guide with this text you will have an unbeatable combination.Simple language and the technical blend and the student is able to comprehend with minimum difficulty.The previous editions have retired to become reference texts and so will the Third Edition when the Fourth Edition becomes available for this Instructor of a Certified Nursing Assistant Class at our local Technical College.

I recently met Rachelle at a healthcare meeting and was fasinated after hearing she had written her book.As an owner of a "free" senior placement service, I was anxious to read it and see how else I could advise my clients on such tough matters as eldercare. The book is with me wherever I go. My brother and I take care of my eighty-year-old mother.She has
diabetic neuropathy and can't walk.But she's a good kid and
we take care of her.This book has helped.Although the object of the book at first seems to be to develop a care plan; it really is a book of primary skills that you need in caregiving.
The book is best because you are not overwhelmed with 465 ways
to help your loved one.This is a primary and basic skills book.
Buy this book if you are new at caregiving and don't know where to start.Because the American Medical Associarion wrote it, I imagine that it would be good for all caregivers to buy it.I just love this book.It's like a Boy Scout manual.It's user-friendly for your brain.And sometimes simplicity can do more good that needless complications and theories.Thank you and I wish you luck.
